Q1 : Is there a maximum number of characters in a variable value?

Q2 : Is there a feature to save variables?

Variable values changes can be saved to a CSV file using the library “01_WinActor Control” – “08_Debug” – “Debug: Save Variable Value”.

Q3 : In setting conditions, variables are compared with each other. But the comparison doesn't work properly.

WinActor's variable is set to a string. But in conditional expression setups, the handling of values stored in variables varies depending on the set comparison operator. Use “equal/not equal” when comparing as a string and “= / ≠” when comparing. is a numeric value

Q4 : You cannot select AdobeReader in Choose a recording application.

Q26 : Does WinActor work properly even though the PC version created the scenario and the PC that executed the scenario are different?

Q31 : If the version of WinActor is upgraded, can the created scenario be applied?

Scenarios that run before the version upgrade will not stop working after the version upgrade.

Q32 : If the OS version and Office version are the same, if you change the PC version, do you need to adjust the situation?

There is no need to adjust the situation if the recording environment and execution environment are the same, such as screen size and resolution, even if the format is changed.

Q35 : Can I substitute strings for each Office product (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)?

Q36 : If there is a process that can be executed by an Excel macro or WinActor situation, there are criteria to decide which action to take.

Complex processing especially for Excel is better in terms of processing speed, etc. if applied to macros. We recommend it to anyone who can make maintenance with either process easy.

Q37 : Is there a way to count columns in Excel?

Q38 : If you try to perform an operation with WinActor, you will get an error due to insufficient memory.

Displaying flow charts in particular requires memory. You can reduce memory usage by dividing the situation by tabs (subroutines) and by closing the groups appropriately and reducing the drawing area.

Q39 : Can I set variables (int type, etc.) by myself?

All variables in WinActor are of type string.

The situation execution result is the result to the WinActor log. The log shows the start/end of the situation and “Operation time”, “node name” and “node ID (node serial number)” for each node.

Q42 : Is it possible to export WinActor's execution results to a file?

It is possible to automatically export notes to external files by setting. “Exit action log” of action tag from Settings → options of home screen.

Q46 : Can I write a comment in a hypothetical situation?

You can comment on each node in the scenario. If you move the mouse cursor over a situation node, a comment described in its properties will be displayed.

Q47 : Is there a way to print the scenario I created?

The Scenario Chart can be exported to an image file, so it should be printed out accordingly.

Q48 : What happens if an error occurs?

Although displaying the error dialog and stopping the situation is normal, you can save response actions when an error occurs in a situation. For example, you can do the following:

・E-mail notification when an error occurs

・ In multi-managed scenarios, the screen will return to its default state when an error occurs and continue the pattern.

Q49 : Is it possible to save a record?

There is a function to save the recording to a file. Information such as when and what part of the scenario was used will be saved.

Q50 : Can it be operated in parallel?

Please assume that WinActor will automatically occupy the PC while WinActor is running. Therefore, if a person operates a PC during autorun with WinActor, it may cause performance errors or errors. Basically, WinActor can start only one process on one PC. Since the scenario execution is single-threaded, parallel processing is not possible. In parallel processing, you will need to prepare several PCs.

Q54 : Please tell me about the changes in WinActor 5.0.

WinActor Ver.5 is compatible with Ver.4. Scenarios “.ums4” created in Ver.4 can be read and executed in Ver.5. However, Ver.5 can only be saved in “.ums5” format, so editing. And save the situation will result in “.ums5”. Note that the “.ums 5” scenario created or saved in Ver. 5 is unreadable in Ver. 4. There are no nodes or libraries to delete from V4 to V5. The one you are currently using will not be available.
